A full and rich training program is offered through this project. Our team of addiction experts will offer training and resources to Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants and their office staff.

  1. Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants will receive education to enable them to obtain a Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000 (DATA 2000) or Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 (CARA 2016) authorized waiver for prescribing buprenorphine in office-based settings.
  2. Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants and their staff will receive training and support to effectively implement MAT in their practices.
    1. Online or live training or a combination in the fundamentals of addiction medicine
    2. Practical, case-based teaching and mentorship on treating patients with OUD, and guidance on incorporating MAT into the practice. The project offers both access to local MAT experts and remote ECHO-model video consultations with peers and addiction specialists (webcams and software are provided).
    3. Support for coordinating care with behavioral health services and in identifying other local services to which patients with OUD may need referrals
    4. Access to tailored consultations with local primary care colleagues who have successfully implemented MAT services in their practices
  3. Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants earn continuing medical education (CME) credits for attending a variety of trainings, with an option to fulfill the requirements of the new ASAM Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine 40-Hour Program .
